Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Free Business Card Maker (the "site") handles. It is a general statement and is not legal advice. For how cookies and similar technologies are used, see our Cookies page. Use of the site is also covered by our Terms and Conditions.
Information you enter into the card maker
The details you type (name, title, contact information, colors, images and so on) are saved in your browser's local storage on your own device so your work is still there when you return. Unless you choose to save the card to an account (see below), this information is not sent to our servers. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Accounts and saved cards
You can use the card maker without an account. If you choose to create one so you can save and reopen cards from any device, we collect:
- Your name and email address, to create your account and to send you sign-in codes.
- The cards you save, including the text, colors, QR code settings and any logo or image you uploaded for the card.
Sign-in uses a one-time 6-digit code sent to your email address instead of a password. Codes expire after 10 minutes, work once, and are stored only in scrambled (hashed) form. After you sign in, a session token is kept in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in for up to 7 days, until you sign out.
Your account data is stored with Amazon Web Services (AWS), which provides our database and sends our emails. It is encrypted at rest. We use your email address only to send sign-in codes and to respond to your messages, and we do not sell your information or use it for marketing.
Deleting your data: sign in, choose My cards, then Delete my account. This removes your account and all your saved cards. Our database keeps point-in-time backups, so deleted data may remain in those backups for up to 35 days before it is permanently erased.
QR codes
QR codes are generated in your browser from the details you enter. Anyone who scans a printed code can read the details it contains, so include only information you are comfortable sharing.
Messages you send us
If you use the Contact page, the details you enter (message type, message, and optionally your name, email and browser information) are sent to a third-party form service and delivered to us. We use them only to read and respond to your message, and keep them only as long as needed for that purpose.
Emails from us
We send two kinds of email:
- Sign-in codes, when you ask for one. These are part of running your account and are always sent.
- Tips, updates and requests for feedback, only if you opt in. The box on the Create account form is unticked and optional, and you can change your choice at any time under Email preferences in the account menu.
When you opt in we keep a record of your choice: that you agreed, the date and time, where you agreed (account creation or Email preferences), and which wording of the checkbox you saw. If you opt in while creating an account, the choice takes effect only after you confirm your email address with the sign-in code.
Every tips and updates email contains a one-click unsubscribe link, and we stop sending as soon as you use it. If an email to you bounces or is reported as unwanted, we also stop. We do not sell your email address or share it for others' marketing. Emails are sent through Amazon Web Services (Amazon SES).

Advertising
This site may show advertising provided by Google AdSense. Advertising partners may collect and use information about your visit, such as cookie identifiers, to show ads and measure them. See the Cookies page for details and for how to control personalized ads.
Server logs
Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) for security and operation. We do not use these logs to identify individual visitors.
Your choices
- Delete card data kept in your browser at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
- Delete your account and saved cards at any time from the My cards window while signed in.
- Decline or withdraw consent to non-essential cookies where the consent message is offered.
- Turn tips and updates emails on or off under Email preferences, or use the unsubscribe link in any of them.
- Contact us through the Contact page about a message you have sent us.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over personal data, such as access, correction or deletion. Use the Contact page to make a request. Please include the email address of your account so we can find it.
Children
The site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
We may update this policy and will change the date above when we do.
