How to print business cards on regular printer paper
This site lays out 10 standard cards (3.5 x 2 inches) on each US Letter sheet. Page 1 holds the fronts and page 2 holds the backs, so printing both sides lines them up card for card.
Before you print
- Check the front and back previews, and zoom in on small text and the QR code.
- Load a few sheets of plain paper first. Always run a test before using card stock.
Print settings
- Click Print Business Cards.
- Set the paper size to Letter (8.5 x 11 in).
- Set scale to 100% (not "fit to page" or "shrink to fit").
- Set margins to None where your browser offers the option.
- Choose two-sided printing and flip on the long edge. If your printer is single-sided only, print page 1, then reload the same sheets and print page 2 only (see below).
Printing the second side by hand
If your printer cannot print on both sides, print page 1, then put the sheet back in the tray so the backs print on the reverse. Where the page lands depends on the printer, so test with plain paper and mark the top edge of a sheet to learn which way it feeds.
Check alignment
Hold a printed test sheet up to a window. The front and back of each card should line up. If they are off by a small amount, your printer may have slightly different margins on each side; try a different printer or trim with a little extra border.
Cutting
Light cut guides are printed on the sheet. Use a paper trimmer or a ruler and craft knife for straight edges. Scissors work but are harder to keep square.
Common problems
- Cards look smaller: scale was not 100%.
- Back is upside down: try "flip on short edge" instead of long edge, or rotate the sheet by hand.
- Edges are white: most home printers cannot print right to the edge. Use a light background or trim in from the guides.
